Vinopedia is a web-based encyclopedia dedicated to the world of wine. Its purpose is to provide structured, reliable and accessible knowledge for anyone interested in wine – from grape varieties and regions to terminology, winemaking styles and cultural traditions. The content is continuously expanded and updated.

Purpose and scope

Vinopedia was created to offer a neutral, well-structured alternative to scattered wine blogs and marketing-driven content. Articles are written to be both accessible and informative, with a focus on clarity, context and accuracy.

The aim is not to cover everything at once, but to build a solid and curated knowledge base that grows over time – always grounded in trustworthy sources and a genuine interest in wine.

Background

The project was initiated in 2024 by winosaur, with the goal of creating a free and useful reference for wine knowledge online. The first public version was launched in 2025.
